Welcome Back Panthers,
I want to start this season off how we will start all the rest of our season's moving forward, with a welcome message and introduction to what you can expect from your Panthers. Welcome Family! We can't wait to have you watch us virtually or in some capacity this year. We are working on some exciting features to our website (we will explain below). As for this year, we want to say "Welcome Family!"
What you can expect!
This year we will have a group of three seniors lead a younger group of Panthers through unprecedented times and hopefully (if we have a season and playoff) unprecedented heights. We are starting our Tryouts on 12/7/20. They will be comprised of what we believe will be a two-day tryout (it may run longer). Practices will start shortly after the tryout. We are looking to have the best year possible. No excuses!—Now check out our future plans for the site as we continue to amend and build it.
The "Coaches Corner," is one of our newest features that we are working on developing. Coaches will designate a day of the week to record an Instagram live post where discuss a range of topics about the team and take questions live on Instagram. We will look to post the videos on our website in order to archive the season. Hopefully, we will be able to connect our players to alumni and supporters who can help them in their pursuit of a professional pathway throughout high school and beyond.
We will also introduce the "Victory Club." The Victory Club is an easy way for family, fans, supporters, alumni, etc. to make a donation to the Panthers per victory. Any amount is appreciated. The way that this works is an individual can select an amount to donate to the team per victory. So for example, Marcus can pledge $10.00 per victory. The Panthers earn a record of 14-2 of the course of the season, Marcus would pledge $140.00 for the season. Those who donate will also have the option to pledge a flat fee if they would like as well. Again all that we receive we are thankful for. These funds will go towards assisting the team with team expenses.
*We are working on posting our PayPal account in order to make this process seamless for the donors.
We will also be debuting our Alumni page. This page will be a series of profiles made up of memories of athletics and professional highlights. With this page, we are looking to highlight all aspects of our program special. We also want our players in high school and middle school to aspire to understand their is a successful life after athletics. We are hopeful that the past and current players can come together annually to meet and discuss their times in an afternoon of fun involving a series of activities. See the Annual Alumni Outing link. *Coming soon.
For our basketball fanatics, we will look to launch the Recent Games and Historic Games and Moments. Here we will share past and current games for our fans to watch and enjoy. We want to share and memorialize the amazing moments and memories that were made while wearing the blue and gold. We also understand this year more than ever that it will be difficult to attend games so we will also look to share our game footage of this year via youtube or a streaming service. With COVID-19, we are seeing this as more and more of our reality. We would like to reach out to anyone who may have film or footage that we would be able to upload. If you know anybody please contact us so that we can reach out to those who may have the footage. When sending the video, a brief summary of the context of the game would be greatly appreciated to help all those understand the magnitude of the moment.
The All time Records (Teams) version will be a highlight of the teams of the past. We want to highlight all time feats by the teams that have come through the program. We are looking for teams that have won 20 games in a season, earned a victory versus a state-ranked opponent or highly touted recruit, games where single-season records were broken, etc.
The All Time Individual Record Holders will highlight the individuals who were on teams that were able to break records. This feat is important for the collective history and for the Panthers' future and past to understand their predecessors.
Closing Remarks for the Class of 2020
As you know, last season was much different than any other season we ever had. In fact, last season ended in a fashion which we would have never envisioned. The 2019-2020 Panthers were 2-0 in the state tournament before having the season come to halt due to the spread of COVID-19. As the only team to finish the season undefeated due to COVID-19 we commend and love you. All of you have graduated and are pursuing your post-secondary aspirations. To all of our seniors playing collegiately we will continue to follow and support you! #WeOverME
